With your generous donations, The Repat Foundation – The Road Home was able to raise $29,000 for the establishment of a Memorial Garden in the new Veterans Health Precinct in Glenside, named the Jamie Larcombe Centre.

This garden will provide a sanctuary for patients, staff and family members to enjoy and reflect upon the many sacrifices of our past and current service men and women.

The Jamie Larcombe Centre will take on the existing services of Ward 17 at the Repatriation General Hospital (RGH), providing treatment for a range of specialist mental health issues, including Post-Traumatic Stress, anxiety and depression. Building of the Jamie Larcombe Centre is well and truly underway and set to be complete in October 2017, with services moving from the RGH in November.

The building is named after Sapper Jamie Ronald Larcombe from Kingscote, Kangaroo Island who was deployed to Afghanistan in 2010. Sapper Larcombe was sadly killed in action on 19 February 2011, and this name is a tribute to his service and sacrifice for his country.

In addition to the Memorial Garden the Jamie Larcombe Centre will also have an Inpatient Ward, Outpatient Ward and Hub where patients and their families can access support and assistance. Other vital areas of support will include a gymnasium, research spaces and a children’s playground for families.
